Why Russia Warned the US of “Unpredictable Consequences!”

As the US prepares to send another $800 million in military aid to Ukraine – a package which for the first time includes helicopters and other heavy weapons – Russia warns that such an escalation could lead to “unpredictable consequences.”

The Russian invaders warned the US and NATO this week that there could be “unpredictable consequences” if they continue to send Ukraine “sensitive” weapons as it prepares to launch a massive ground offensive in eastern Ukraine.

The Biden administration announced that another $800 million in security assistance would be sent to Ukraine, including artillery, coastal defense drones, anti-aircraft, anti-tank armored vehicles, and Mi-17 helicopters.

Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said the defense systems approved by the US are “reflective of the kind of fighting that the Ukrainians are expecting to be faced with” as Russia focuses on eastern Ukraine.

The announcement came one month after President Biden had approved a separate $800 million arms package for the defense of Kyiv.

But Moscow is taking issue with the sophisticated systems that the US and NATO nations are arming Ukraine with and, in a diplomatic discussion this week, accused the US of “adding fuel” to its war.

The US has provided roughly $2.7 billion in security assistance for Ukraine – $1.7 billion of which has been granted since the start of the invasion.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly asked that more aid be provided from allied nations more quickly as Kyiv prepares for what defense officials have warned will be an even more brutal fight in the Donbas.

A senior US defense official told reporters this week that the US has been getting defensive aid to Ukraine at “unprecedented speeds” and noted that it takes just one week from the time Biden signs off on an aid package to when it gets into Ukrainian hands.

An entire delivery of an arms package takes roughly four weeks.

“I would remind [you] that we front load. Every shipment has a mix of material on board,” the official said, noting that the last shipment contained surface-to-air defenses like Javelin and Stinger missiles, along with Switchblade drones armed with tank-busting warheads.

After failing to take Ukraine’s capital, Russia has re-focused its war efforts on the eastern Luhansk and Donetsk regions, where Russian-backed separatists have been fighting for the last eight years.

Defense officials have said they believe all of Russia’s ground forces are now in the Donbas region but warned Moscow’s major offensive has yet to commence.

The Pentagon nor the State Department has yet to issue any kind of official response to Moscow’s not-so-veiled threat of severe consequences if heavy military weaponry continues to be sent Zelenskyy by the US and NATO.

It seems that the Russians have forgot what the Germans did in ww2. Now they are allowing Putin to do the same thing starting with the Ukraine. Where do the efforts of a megalomaniac stop. When do the Russian people say no more?

Remember the Jewish people how we are allowed Hitler to kill them? How long will we allow this to happen to these people? Putin‘s henchmen or murdering those people, people who are not military women and children. It’s all the same like what the Germans did to the Jews!

It’s all very interesting but on what planet is it the case that “After failing to take Ukraine’s capital, Russia has re-focused its war efforts on the eastern Luhansk and Donetsk regions”. Russia has stated its objectives very clearly from the start and in the peace offer made to Ukraine: (a) Crimea, (b) Donbas, (c) Ukraine agrees not to join NATO. Conquering the capital, or the whole of Ukraine, was never one of their objectives.

That’s clear both from what Russia has been saying consistently from the start, and also what makes sense if you think about it independently from all the propaganda coming from all sides. Both Crimea and Donbas are ethnically Russian, and want to be a part of Russia. The Crimea contains the strategically important Sevastopol naval base, which has been Russian continuously since Soviet times. And Donbas and a Ukraine committed to not being in NATO provide the buffer Russia wants. It makes no sense to try to keep an unwilling subjugated people of another country, which would be the case if Russia tried to conquer Western Ukraine. That just leads to perpetual insurgency and domestic nightmares, as all imperial nations occupying foreign nations have learned. Bearing in mind that Ukraine is the 2nd poorest and the 1st most corrupt nation in Europe, why would Russia want that millstone around its neck?
