Texas Lt. Governor to Antifa: Don’t Come to Our State
In an uncompromising message to the thugs known as Antifa, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said that the group was not welcome in the state in the wake of the devastating mass shooting in El Paso on Saturday. Patrick delivered the message roughly a month before the so-called “antifascists” were planning to descend on the city for a “Border Resistance” training tour in September.
“I was looking at a story recently in the last couple days where Antifa is posting they want to come to El Paso and do a 10-day siege. Clear message to Antifa: Stay out of El Paso. Stay out of Texas, basically. We don’t need them coming in on Sept. 1,” Patrick told Fox News. “We didn’t need them to begin with before this happened. I would say to Antifa, scratch Texas off the map and don’t come in. It’s not the time and place for them to come at any time, particularly in aftermath of what happened in El Paso.”
Independent journalist Andy Ngo, who was brutally attacked by the violent leftists in the streets of Portland, Oregon a few weeks ago, posted a flyer to Twitter that gave away Antifa’s plans for El Paso. The flyer, which depicts people firing arrows at a border tower, urges followers to hear Antifa’s “Call to Action” for a ten-day stay in the border city.
Patrick’s warning comes as Republicans on Capitol Hill are urging the FBI to begin taking Antifa seriously as a domestic threat to security.
In a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray this week, Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) said it was high time to label the group accurately.
“Antifa employs violence to coerce Americans into silence,” Banks said. “As a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, I am intimately familiar with the tactics of terrorist groups and how they employ fear/violence to silence political enemies. To my great surprise, we are witnessing similar style tactics right here in our country. The FBI must take this threat seriously.”
Over in the Senate, Sens. Ted Cruz and Bill Cassidy have sponsored legislation that would label Antifa a domestic terror organization. Cruz has also written legislation that would authorize the FBI to use RICO laws to infiltrate the group and prosecute members of the organization.
The movement appears to have the president’s support as well.
“Consideration is being given to declaring ANTIFA, the gutless Radical Left Wack Jobs who go around hitting (only non-fighters) people over the heads with baseball bats, a major Organization of Terror (along with MS-13 & others). Would make it easier for police to do their job!” Trump tweeted.
