Trump Blasts Latest Page/Strzok Texts as “Embarrassment” for FBI

President Trump was outraged over the newly released text messages from former FBI officials/lovers Peter Strzok and Lisa Page on Thursday, saying that the pair’s conspiratorial communications with the press were an “embarrassment” to U.S. law enforcement.

“More text messages between former FBI employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page are a disaster and embarrassment to the FBI & DOJ. This should never have happened but we are learning more and more by the hour,” tweeted Trump. “’Others were leaking like mad’ in order to get the President!”

Trump vented in the wake of more than 100 pages of newly-recovered messages being released to Congress, many of which continue to shed light on the bias within the FBI during the election and the first months of Trump’s presidency.

In the messages, Strzok and Page discuss a “media leak strategy” that appears to indicate that they and others were trying desperately to shape the narrative on Russian collusion with the mainstream media. Even more troublingly, there is evidence that suggests that the FBI would use these leak-heavy stories to add fuel to their own investigation, gain further resources, and obtain warrants they might not have otherwise been able to get. It was a vicious circle of manufactured evidence and public relations that had little to do with justice and everything to do with undermining the duly-elected president.

Some reporting on the full batch of texts has relayed another narrative – that Strzok and Page were actually discussing the “leak strategy” from the viewpoint of trying to stop the leaks, not promote them. Perhaps that’s partially true – the FBI was under orders at that time from Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to put a lid on the leaking – but it, too, is misleading. We know this because previous text releases from these two plainly demonstrate where they’re coming from, what kind of political bias they were bringing to their jobs, and how far they were willing to go to bring this candidate/president down. For them to have suddenly saddled up in the wake of President Trump’s election, determined to fly right and call balls and strikes? That defies credulity.

Rumors abound that President Trump will soon de-classify all of the documents surrounding the FISA mess and Carter Page. If and when that happens, we will gain even further insight into the political game that was being played at the Department of Justice and the FBI. But even if it doesn’t, we have more than enough evidence to conclude that this entire Russia investigation has been a miscarriage of justice from the very beginning. As such, it’s time to shutter the Special Counsel’s office and prosecute those Obama-era officials responsible for using the FBI as their political war machine.
