President Trump found himself irritated by the highly-biased coverage of the full Mueller report this weekend, insisting that the report’s final conclusions should not be forgotten amidst all of the sniping about this anecdote or that one. Taking aim once again at the partisan makeup of the special counsel’s team of lawyers, Trump said that while the report was constructed to make him look as bad as possible, it didn’t change the fact that Mueller ultimately exonerated his campaign of any collusion with the Russian government.
“Despite the fact that the Mueller Report should not have been authorized in the first place & was written as nastily as possible by 13 (18) Angry Democrats who were true Trump Haters, including highly conflicted Bob Mueller himself, the end result is No Collusion, No Obstruction!” he tweeted.
Trump said that the “fake news media” was guilty of “doing everything possible to stir up and anger the pols and as many people as possible seldom mentioning the fact that the Mueller Report had as its principle conclusion the fact that there was NO COLLUSION WITH RUSSIA.”
He concluded: “The Russia Hoax is dead!”
On Friday, the president called out unnamed former members of his administration whom he accused of lying to investigators.
“Statements are made about me by certain people in the Crazy Mueller Report, in itself written by 18 Angry Democrat Trump Haters, which are fabricated & totally untrue,” he wrote. “Watch out for people that take so-called ‘notes,’ when the notes never existed until needed.”
Once upon a time, Trump’s detractors would have simply dismissed this tweet as the ramblings of a habitual liar who can never own up to the truth about his own wrongdoing. Unfortunately, that tired tale doesn’t work as well now that we know that it was Trump who was telling the truth for the last two years when he called Mueller’s probe a witch hunt and insisted there was “NO COLLUSION” with the Russians.
Oh, who are we kidding, they’re still going to call him a liar. As long as the stories dovetail with their unshakable view of Trump as a lying criminal, they’ll go on believing them. It doesn’t matter what the actual truth is.
And so we move to the next phase of the game, where Democrats, who have staked their entire reputations on being right about the Russian conspiracy theory, pick and choose everything of interest out of the Mueller report so as to vindicate their ongoing witch hunt. The alternative is to move on and show the American people they have something to offer the country other than socialism and wild allegations. Hint: They don’t.
