Apparently in their rush to make a oh-so-politically-correct STATEMENT on the beauty of the transgender movement, Harvard University forgot that Chelsea Manning did not become famous because of her much-publicized sex change. Before she cast off her “Bradley” identity, she was best known as an American traitor who leaked classified information that could have easily put lives in danger. And for that reason – regardless of what you may think about her absurd decision to “become a woman” – she should never again be respected or honored by anyone with an ounce of patriotism.
But we’ll gladly call her by her preferred name and pronouns, because if there’s anyone who has ever lost the right to be called a man, it’s Chelsea Manning.
Manning, along with Trump team luminaries Sean Spicer and Corey Lewandowski were invited Thursday to become fellows at Harvard for the upcoming semester. But Manning’s invitation immediately sparked a fierce backlash, one that resulted in at least one individual’s resignation. Former CIA Deputy Director Mike Morell resigned as a fellow after the announcement, blasting the decision to honor Manning as “wholly inappropriate.”
“It is my right, indeed my duty, to argue that the school’s decision is wholly inappropriate and to protest it by resigning from the Kennedy School,” Morell wrote.
Morell was not the only one with CIA ties to blast the decision. Current Director Mike Pompeo quickly withdrew from a speech he was expected to give that night at Harvard for the same reason.
“Ms. Manning betrayed her country,” Pompeo said in a letter to Harvard officials. He insisted that his withdrawal had nothing to do with Manning’s gender confusion. “It has everything to do with her identity as a traitor to the United States of America and my loyalty to the officers of the C.I.A.”
Facing down criticism from all angles, Harvard Kennedy School Dean Douglas Elmendorf backed down after a day and revoked his invitation to Manning.
“I see more clearly now that many people view a visiting fellow title as an honorific, so we should weigh that consideration when offering invitations,” Elmendorf wrote. “I apologize to her and to the many concerned people from whom I have heard today for not recognizing upfront the full implications of our original invitation.”
No apology necessary. In fact, it’s a good thing this happened, because it served to remind the country that Manning is not Caitlyn Jenner, Part II. This is a traitorous nutjob who should actually still be in prison, not giving special classes at one of America’s finest institutions. The sooner we let her fade from the public eye, the better.
