In a bombshell statement to three congressional committees, FBI informant Douglas Campbell said Thursday that the Russian government had poured millions of dollars into the U.S. with the intention that it would go to Bill Clinton’s charities while fully expecting that then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would guide the Obama administration through a “rest” in relations between the two countries. Campbell also informed Congress that he had inside knowledge of Moscow hiring an American lobbying firm specifically because they had influence with Clinton and Obama.
In his written statement, Campbell proved once and for all that the Uranium One deal was not the innocent transaction that Obama, Clinton, and the mainstream media want us to believe.
Naturally, the Democrats are going with the “Oh, this guy has an agenda” line of attack. Because anything that looks bad for them is, obviously, just Republican propaganda. Wonder how long it will be before America starts to see through THAT farce.
Campbell informed Congress that Russian nuclear officials had told him “that they expected APCO [the lobbying firm] to apply a portion of the $3 million annual lobbying fee it was receiving to provide in-kind support for the Clinton’s Global Initiative.”
“The contract called for four payments of $750,000 over twelve months,” Campbell wrote in his testimony. “APCO was expected to give assistance free of charge to the Clinton Global Initiative as part of their effort to create a favorable environment to ensure the Obama administration made affirmative decisions on everything from Uranium One to the U.S.-Russia Civilian Nuclear Cooperation agreement.”
Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill assures us that Campbell’s testimony is just a Republican effort to distract from the Trump/Russian investigation.
“Just yesterday the committee made clear that this secret informant charade was just that, a charade,” Merrill said in a statement. “Along with the widely debunked text-message-gate and Nunes’ embarrassing memo episode, we have a trifecta of GOP-manufactured scandals to distract from their own President’s problems and the threat to democracy he poses.”
Oh, okay. So it’s been “debunked” that Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were radical Trump haters who were meeting in secret to hatch undemocratic plans for his impending election, has it? Don’t think so. Nor was Nunes’ memo “embarrassing” for anyone other than the Obama administration and those who have their identity wrapped up in the certainty that Trump must have really, actually committed treason with the Russians. So if this testimony is on par with those two bombshells, we’d tell Merrill to tell his client: Get ready, because it’s about to start raining hell all over your State Department stint. Again.
It’s worth noting that when Campbell grew concerned about the Obama administration’s willingness to sign away uranium mining rights to the Russians, he asked his supervisors in the Bureau why the U.S. was so nonchalant about giving Putin a clear energy advantage.
“I expressed these concerns repeatedly to my FBI handlers,” he said. “The response I got was that politics was somehow involved.”
Yeah. Some things never change.
