Will Hillary Be a Better Gun Salesman Than Obama?
You don’t have to believe Donald Trump or the NRA to see how destructive President Hillary Clinton could be for the Second Amendment. Our next president could get between 1 and 3 (or even more) Supreme Court nominations. Hillary has already promised to go farther than Obama on gun control, using her “pen and phone” if need be. She has continued Obama’s war on the National Rifle Association, and she has continued to characterize freedom-crushing gun restrictions as “common sense.”
But while most gun owners are understandably wary about a Hillary Clinton presidency, some salesmen and manufacturers are excited about the possibility. After all, no one has sold more guns over the last eight years than President Obama himself.
“Barack Obama is single handily responsible for the sales of more guns and ammo than any human being in the history of the United States,” said former NRA organizer Richard Feldman. “Clinton could do better.”
We hear this kind of thing all the time, but we need to really think about the implications here. Because when you go deep on this, you realize it completely revokes what Obama and Clinton would have us believe about the NRA. To hear them tell it, the NRA is just a front for the American gun industry. This industry, naturally, wants what’s best for sales and profit. Therefore, that’s all the NRA cares about as well. They just use all of this rah-rah freedom stuff to rile up the rubes.
Okay, but…it doesn’t make sense. The Washington Post is out there talking to experts, investors, manufacturers, and suppliers. They all say the same thing: Obama has been good for business. If the name of the game is to sell as many guns as possible, then you would have to expect the NRA to actually be helping Democrats win elections.
Unless, of course, the NRA represents the people and not the gun manufacturers…
Well, this is something that the Democrats already know and they want to make sure no one else catches on. They have turned the NRA into America’s Great Boogeyman, convincing their low-information voters that only the Fat Cats at Remington are keeping our country from tackling gun violence. It’s complete nonsense, though, and it should be exposed as such as often as possible.
