Wow: Nancy Pelosi Accuses CNN of Always Defending Republicans (!)
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went off the deep end on Tuesday when CNN’s Wolf Blitzer questioned her on the Democratic Party’s failure to come to a deal with Republicans on a new coronavirus stimulus package. Perhaps realizing halfway through the interview that she’d officially overplayed her hand, Pelosi grew increasingly irate with the questions, insisting that CNN has always shown a bias towards Republicans.
Pelosi was in the hot seat after she rejected the GOP’s latest stimulus offer, which would have provided $1.8 trillion in new money to help businesses and individuals suffering from the pandemic-induced recession economy. Democrats say the offer is hundreds of billions of dollars short of what they want, which is why they decided to just do nothing instead. Blitzer found some logical holes in that psychology and he wondered aloud why Democrats wouldn’t accept the reduced package under the premise that “some” is better than “nothing at all.”
“With all due respect, you really don’t know what you’re talking about,” Pelosi said, seething. “So do a service to the issue and have some level of respect for the people who have worked on these issues, written the bill to begin with.”
Unfazed by Pelosi’s unhinged rudeness, Blitzer asked the House Speaker about recent remarks made by Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and former presidential candidate Andrew Yang, both of whom have urged Democrats to take the deal on the table.
“Nancy Pelosi take this deal!” Yang tweeted on Saturday. “Put politics aside, people are hurting.”
“People in need can’t wait until February,” wrote Khanna. “1.8 trillion is significant & more than twice Obama stimulus. It will allow Biden to start with infrastructure. Obama won in 08 by doing the right thing on TARP instead of what was expedient. Make a deal & put the ball in McConnell court.”
Pelosi was unimpressed with Blitzer’s examples.
“I don’t know why you’re always an apologist and many of your colleagues are apologists for the Republican position,” she sniped. “Ro Khanna, that’s nice. That isn’t what we’re going to do.”
At the end of his rope, Blitzer asked Pelosi what was keeping her from getting on the phone with Trump and hammering out a deal.
“I don’t speak to the president,” Pelosi said.
Awesome. We’re sure the millions of Americans waiting for relief are so pleased to hear that Pelosi is so stuffed up with her own ego that they won’t get the help that Republicans are offering.
If only she had a friendly news outlet to turn to…
